The Secret Life of Realistic Dildos

This blog was prepared by Lips'n'Licks in her own personal capacity. The opinions expressed in this article are the author's own.

Before working in the industry I only saw dildos as plastic penises. I didn't understand why it was such a huge part of the industry because I saw them as a farce! It baffled me at the amount of time and effort that was put into the creation of those phallic forms. But now that I have been surrounded by dildos of all kinds for an almost uncomfortable amount of time I've come to appreciate them in all forms. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes because, as a masturbator myself, I have different preferences and needs than my other masturbating comrades and I like options!

Length, Girth and Tips
Dildos come in a wide range of lengths from cute (5") to monstrous (12"). Even though the length options may seem endless, the most popular length is 7"-8" which turns out to be a little over the average penis size when erect. With a dildo that size, the people at sensual play are able to get a realistic experience while feeding their fantasies of taking on a larger cock. Girth is a main factor as well because every body is shaped differently – male or female. What one person can handle, the next person can't. So being able to offer dildos in thinner or thicker girths gives the masturbator the opportunity to experience pleasure manufactured just for them. This is the same for the tips or heads of dildos. Whether it' s the much loved mushroom shape or more on the pointy side, it matters. Some may see this as purely aesthetic, and maybe it is, but people have preferences and sometimes it's the head of a dildo that can turn us on or turn us right off. When in search for a dildo I treat it as if it were the real thing – if the penis doesn't look good to me I lose interest. But if the length, girth and head are on fleek, best believe the events of the night will lead to orgasm.

If you can think of it, I guarantee a dildo comes in that colour. The colour options are endless – flesh tones, black, pink, purple, blue, yellow, green, even rainbow! Colour is an important part of the decision making process because it is linked to mood. It may sound weird, but the colour of the dildo that someone has inside of them can add to the sensual experience by way of their mood. From my research, the most popular dildo colour is purple which means that people are attracted to power, luxury, independence, creativity, and mystery. Another way people choose dildo colour is by their fantasies. Many fantasies consist of having sex with a man of a different race, and with the wide range of flesh tone dildos we have the resources to explore our wildest fantasies without the anxiety that could ensue if done in real life. Colour isn't only for aesthetic, it aids in creating a fuller experience that culminates body and mind which leads to ultimate pleasure.
Vibrating or Non-Vibrating?
To vibe or not to vibe? That is the question. There are many up sides to a non-vibrating dildo like not having to worry about batteries or how much charge it has and, of course, taking it into the shower. With a non-vibrating dildo in the shower all you'll have to do is stick it to the wall, lube it up and go! No worries about clicking through functions or being cautious that the toy doesn't get soaked. It's smooth sailing. On the other hand, a vibrating dildo is, well, a vibrating dildo! The industry put two of the most important elements together to make a dildo vibe and they've done no wrong. A dildo vibe gives you options; ten plus functions and speeds, batteries or rechargeable, and you can even turn the vibes off to use it as a non-vibrating dildo. That's two dildos for the price of one! How could you go wrong? No, not all dildo vibes can't be submerged into water but light shower play is permitted. Given the option to vibe or not to vibe. For me, the answer is always vibe.
